Nattens Madrigal
Eight hymns to the wolf in man. Allegedly recorded in Norwegian forests with deliberately blown-out production, Nattens Madrigal is one of the most hostile and genuinely unsettling records ever committed to vinyl. The guitars are pure static and distortion — no warmth, no clarity — and the howled vocals sit somewhere between ritual chant and feral scream. Every note feels torn from somewhere dark and unreachable. This is not a comfortable listen, and that is entirely the point. Essential to any serious black metal collection.
