[KAMELOT](http://www.kamelot.com/) have released a video for "Ashen World," the first single from their upcoming album _Dark Asylum_, due August 28 on Napalm Records. The track brings in DECESSUS frontwoman Ignacia Fernández as a guest, her vocals woven into the atmosphere alongside Tommy Karevik and Thomas Youngblood. The result is a layered sound that signals where this record is headed: dense, melodic, and built for repeat listens.
_Dark Asylum_ builds its world inside a Neo Victorian setting, centered on RavenHill Asylum, a former cathedral now turned into a space where science, faith, and instability are forced to coexist. Youngblood describes the record as a journey through fractured memory and identity, moving from darkness toward something like clarity. Karevik frames it as an exploration of the tension between fear and hope, with any resolution coming from within. The concept is ambitious, but KAMELOT have always worked best when they lean into narrative and atmosphere rather than just technical display.
Sascha Paeth is back as producer, a steady hand for KAMELOT's sound, with Jacob Hansen on mixing and mastering. The guest list is long and deliberate: Tobias Sammet (AVANTASIA), Lea-Sophie Fischer (ELUVEITIE), Clémentine Delauney (VISIONS OF ATLANTIS), Fernández, Rannveig Sif Sigurðardóttir, Sólveig Sara Leupold, and Billy King all contribute across the album's fifteen tracks. The core lineup—Karevik, Youngblood, Oliver Palotai, Sean Tibbetts, Alex Landenburg—remains intact. This is a record built on collaboration, but the band's identity stays at the center.
_Dark Asylum_ will see release on vinyl, CD, and tape. Several vinyl variants are planned, and the two-disc CD digipak includes an instrumental version of the album. For collectors, this is a release that takes the physical format seriously—something KAMELOT have always understood.
